Bach Flower Remedies – for Horses and Humans

What do they do?

You may have heard of “Bach Rescue Remedy” ? Well, there are infact 38 separate flower and plant essences developed by Dr. Bach, which work both individually and in a team effect offering emotional support for a vast range of issues.  Each essence is indicated by behaviours seen in a negative state, and treatment with that particular essence will help the animal or person achieve a more positive state, e.g.  anxiety to calm, irritation to tolerance, or despair to faith in the future etc.

These negative states may be caused by trauma, circumstance or illness etc whether current or in the past. Remember that a “chicken and egg” situation can occur e.g. an emotional issue can manifest as an illness, or an illness can create an emotional issue.

Are there any side effects?

No. The remedies are completely natural and come in a carrier of organic brandy and water. As they are “energetic” medicines, they will either have a positive effect or do nothing at all. One cannot overdose with them nor will there be “clashes” with other medications. For animals Heather will already have reduced the alcohol content in the mix as some – particularly dogs – can be sensitive to it.

How are they chosen for you?

Heather truly offers another special practice here as she doesn’t just look the remedies up in a book… this is another area where her intuitive connection comes into play. Whilst she is able to do this without meeting the animal/person (though she’d need a few pertinent details) she does generally prefer to have had some connection – whether through visiting the animal or chatting to the person on the phone – as it helps to get a clearer picture of how the person/animal’s energy is before she starts. It may help to carry out a healing treatment beforehand too. After the connection has been made in whichever way,  Heather will tune back into the animal/human’s energy from home and ask them (using their unconscious “Higher Self”)  to select the remedies he/she requires at that time. This can often be very enlightening – particularly when the remedies are for an animal – as their priorities are not always that of their humans! Horses usually select a mix of between 3 and 6 remedies.  Heather also often finds at this point she discovers more about what’s troubling them, and you will receive the remedies and a full description of what has been chosen and why those specific essences were requested, along with the corresponding affirmation (which should be thought or said each time you give the remedies). This is a very detailed process and usually takes around an hour to carry out as this ensures you get absolutely what is specifically required for you at that moment – Heather has thus far had 100% results from clients using the remedies with the efffects ranging from gentle support to a dramatic change!

Dosage and application:

This will vary depending on the individual but as a guide Heather tends to use a pipette’s worth for each dose for horses and a few drops for smaller animals or humans. The frequency and length of time remedies should be administered for will be advised in each case, but if your horse moves away when you approach with the remedies or shows disinterest then they have had enough of that combination! At that point – or if you reach the end of the bottle – it would be good to contact Heather to see if a new set/more of the same essences are required, or whether you/they are ok to manage on their own.

As Bach Remedies are an “energetic” medicine, the recipient does not have to ingest them. As long as the remedies enter their energy field somewhere then they will be able to be absorbed and utilised. From her experience Heather suggests the following ways – use as many as you like:

  • Allow the horse/animal to lick them off your hand
  • Place in water (humans can use fruit juice if preferred)
  • Place in feed (animals)
  • Give on a slice of apple
  • Put some on you palm and gently stroke them onto your animal anywhere he is comfortable, e.g. forehead, neck, shoulder etc Humans could perhaps do this on the back of their hand.

The last suggestion is a highly recommended method for animals as this allows the human to participate in the healing and, what’s more, they will benefit from the remedies if they need them too!!

Cost from £20 per animal/human inc p&p.
